Did the flood happen?
by BlackWolf inso we were talking about noah for our family worship tonight and it ended with a little debate between me and my parents about how the flood was possible.
you know, where did the water come from, how did all the animals fit, etc.
of course it led nowhere and my parents came up with some strange theories like that there was "an expanse of water in the sky" and that's where all the water came from.

If he could play it in one take why didn't he?
Don't do the losers limp on me now.
I posted recording of him playing it without the triplets.
I suspect some drummers today figured out how to do live what he couldn't do live but could do in the studio.

When I play music out in public. I play for money.
It is usually in crowded bars or venues where people go to dance.
That is the only way you can play out for money on a regular basis.
People have to be drinking.
The way you get them to drink is to make them thirsty.
You have to be a human juke box and play familiar songs that they will get up and dance to.
They don't care if the drummer sounds better than Bonham ever could live. They want to hear hits, that make them dance.
I don't think many Led zeppelin songs would be good money makers in bars.

Another example of Bonham not nailing good times bad times.

I suspect that zeppelin recorded Good times bad times to a click track without the drums or they used the drums with a simple bass beat.
Then Bonham went over and over and dubbed the bass pedal without playing with his hands.
I say that because zeppelin was famous for doing that sort of thing and they never played the song live which means they couldn't play it live.
When I make recording If I want a fancy drum beat which people do not usually want in popular songs. I record the drums than go back over and hook up my double bass pedal and people think I am Bonham.

I started out as a drummer in the 5th grade.
I had set of Ludwig drums.
I was playing in wedding bands Polkas and standards in elementary school back in the 60's when people had bands at there weddings.
Good times bad time has some excellent drumming.
I have played it many times in my bands as a bassist and guitarist with many drummers.
Some of the best drummers in Tampa Bay.
No one plays it like Bonham and the only people that notice that are 10% of the drummers in the crowd.
You don't even know if Bohham recorded it in one track or used multiple tracks.
Zepplin was known for layering and multiracking. If I layered and multitracked the drums I could make a close approximation to Bohnam.
There are no live recordings that I can find of good times bad times which tells me Led zeppelin could not pull the song off live.
There is the beginning of good times bad times on a live recording of communications break down. Bonham does not nail it.
I could play that as well as all the drummers I have played with.

http://blogcritics.org/the-beatles-many-drummers/
The beatles had at least 6 drummers.
They had 4 drummers while they had Ringo.
They replaced Ringo for one major tour.
The movie spinal tap is a parody of the rock and roll music business. They had 10 drummers in spinal tap.
In my most successful band During the course of 1 year playing every weekend and sometimes 3 days a week. We used 6 drummers and 3 singers.
The bass player, me, and 2 guitarist played every show. We all had steady day jobs except for 5 of the drummers.
In a 50 year music career from the time I was 13 to now age 63. Every band I have been in has always had multiple drummers.
I don't think any band want's to have more than one drummer.
It is just the nature of the beast.
To have a band you have to have several people that can make music. When you loose them you loose the band. And then after you have people that can make the music. You need someone who can keep a beat.
A band can replace a drummer on the fly. You can't do that with a guitarist, bassist or singer.
I have my own recording studio. I can listen to any song and sit down and play the drums right after listening to the song.
You can't do that with the guitar or bass. It might take hours to copy a guitar solo or bass part.

I myself am the second bass player in a popular local band.
When the first bass player has another gig or commitment they call me.
And I slide right in singing and playing with no practice.
I have a folder with all their songs and they use me once or twice a month.
And in that band which I have been playing with for over 20 years. There are probably 10 drummers and 5 bass players that I know of.
I have 5 local bands that I fill in for. From singing, playing guitar or bass sometimes even keyboards.

If you have a band you got to have 3 or 4 drummers and 3 or 4 bass players
That's one hell of band. I have drummed in many bands as the solo drummer, usually with one bass player, never two, and never another drummer except for maybe a little percussion added here or there by the guy with little to do, often the guy on keys or another guitarist. Nearly all the bands I listen to have one drummer and one bass player
I have to say you haven't spent much time in the trenches. Or in fact you are a drummer. One who hangs out with musicians.
You don't have 3 or 4 drummers and 3 or 4 bass players at the same gig. You have a rolodex of musicians who can fill in. You only have 1 drummer and one bass player at a show.
I have never been in a successful money making band that only had 1 drummer.
And I have been playing since the beatles came out.
There have been bands like the grateful dead and alman brothers that would show up with 2 drummers. I guess they figured having 2 one would always show up and be there.
If it is a successful band the person or management running it. Has back ups for everybody.
I guess what I am saying is of all the people that hang out with musicians. Drummers are the least reliable for various reasons. And you need to have a number of them in your rolodex if you want your band to be known as a dependable band that doesn't cancel gigs.

I try not to get into positions where I will be provoked.
I avoid confrontations.
If I have to get into them, someone will probably say, I lost my temper. They may or may not be correct.
On the other hand. I worked as a deputy sheriff at the county jail dealing with prisoners all day.
And at times they would zealously provoke me.
I can say I never lost my temper doing my job at the jail. If I had to fight someone or discipline someone, I never lost my temper.
Maybe because everything I did was on video. And I had to write a report regarding everything I ever did and then the brass would compare my report to the video. So I knew I couldn't loose my temper or I would loose my job. And I wanted the retirement.
I have had urine and feces thrown at me and people swing at me, I have been called every name prisoners can think of, and I never lost my temper.
I try to avoid confrontations. Because, I know to the extreme they lead to a fight and fighting leads to jail. And I worked in the jail and I don't want to go there.
I will fight to protect myself from being attacked or harmed but I will avoid heated arguments that lead to fighting.
I have enough martial arts and police training that I can look at someone and tell whether I can beat them or not.
And if I can beat them they might know it to and shoot or stab me first. I don't need that.
And I know where I live in Florida if you end up fighting someone on the street probably both parties are going to jail. What do I need to fight someone for?
I can tell by looking at them whether I can beat them or not. I don't need to go to jail, pay for a lawyer and get a criminal record.
Florida is a state where many people have concealed weapons permits. And If a person feels threatened they can shoot you and probably get away with it.
So that is a good reason for me to control my temper.
